On the road to transformation

Time for some real honesty. I've known all of this for a while, but I'm hoping that sharing the situation and my plans will help make me more accountable. I am not happy with my weight, or how my clothes fit, or how much activity quickly becomes too much because I have no stamina.

The hard facts:

I'm 5'6" and I have a realistic expectation that I am not physically destined to be 135 lbs and a size 4, not unless I look like skin and bones... not the look I am going for.

The heaviest I have ever been was 186 lbs.
(Sarah & Isaac's wedding 1/17/04... circa my heaviest era)

Shortly after that I joined Weight Watchers and got to my lowest weight point, 156lbs.

(November 2006)

But of course as with all weight sagas I gained it back, slowly, but I did. I was actually able to keep it off for quite a while, but when we moved back in November 08 it all started creeping back. Now I am at 183 lbs.
(A couple of weeks ago)

To me the saddest part is that I was paying attention and I watched all of the pounds come back, but I never actually did anything to change the situation. I just watched them come back and kept eating snickers when I shouldn't or avoided activity like it was the plague.

Today I am declaring the beginning of my transformation. It is spring afterall and a time for growth and transformation. My official goal is to reach a weight around the 156 I hit before and to wear pants that are a single digit size.

So what am I goint to do in order to move this transformation along?
  1. I will be using Lance Armstrong's Livestrong.com to help track calories, etc and fitness. They have a great app for my phone so I will never have an excuse not to log in activity or food and will always be able to see the progress that is coming my way. I'll let you know what I think of it as I continue to work with it.
  2. Today we moved Jacob's gym membership from across town to the one literally right down the street. Its beautiful and inspiring with views of the mountains. Hopefully it won't feel like working out in a gym. They have a lot of classes that I know I will be interested in, plus really amazing state of the art equipment that allows you to keep track of your progress.
  3. I will be using my blog as a means of accountability. Not that I intend to turn my blog into a weightloss blog, but don't be surprised if you see some updates or posts generally related to it.
So here's to transformations and starting down a new path!!

I'm behind you 100%

A couple things ~
1. Check out the "Why we blog" blog that's posted in my fitforeal blogroll. Gary (the author) also has weight loss goals and his blog is really motivational and really good.

2. I can't wait to get to some real calorie burning with you soon! I'm up for classes and even working out at my apartment gym, hiking, swimming or whatever (and no I don't mean drinking Mojitos by the hot tub). Let's try to work something into our weekly schedules. I know that would be great for my motivation as well.

3. Dave (Bengel) is hosting a beach body bootcamp M, W, Sat at his house. A personal trainer is runnign the thing. Very cool. I haven't been yet. It's at 6 AM on M/W, which is just an ungodly hour for Julian to be out by, but it's not till 8:10 on Saturday.
