Two causes close to me for you to think about…..
1. My little cousin Wyatt will be walking in a fundraiser walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He’s got a big goal and is doing really great at reaching it. This is a very important issue for him as he was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago. I realize that many (most) of my readers may already be hearing about this through Wyatt’s parents, but I wanted to share it anyways… here’s a link to the Walkin’ 4 Wyatt page. http://walk.jdrf.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=extranet.personalpage&confirmid=87673235
2. Lincoln High School is very close to having to cut the Musical Theater Program! This cannot happen! Without this program my high school experience would have been vastly different and a heck of a lot “more” boring. This is where I met Jacob in addition to so many other friends who I still can count on as friends and am still connected to through the wonders of facebook. Many of my classmates have succeeded with their talents; talents that were enriched and developed at Lincoln. Some of them are on Broadway, some in the local communities, but all with great success and confidence in their talents.
The Lincoln Theater Guild is accepting donations to help keep this “extracurricular” program in place. http://www.mrmanthe.com/mrm08/Drama_Fund.html. In my opinion there should be nothing “extra” about this program. Music and arts as a whole are so important for happiness for all people, but should especially be nurtured in youth.
I just wanted to share these causes with you. I know that there are so many, many, more places to give a piece of your wallet or your heart, but hopefully this will make you think about all of the other causes that are close to you and you will find a way to give of yourself.
