An ode to Costco!

I don't really like days like today. It was a good day but I had a lot on my after-work agenda. I needed to grocery shop, make dinner, get caught up on some cleaning, fold the 4 loads of laundry I did yesterday, and I want to go to the gym.

Jacob worked from home as he's laid up with a busted back lately. He's the project manager on an upcoming overhaul of the Zellerbach Theater at UC Berkeley, so right now he can be home and get some drafting and planning done. I knew that he wasn't really going to be getting up and making lunch during the day, and I was right he ate some crackers and hummus all day. So when I got home making dinner really was the first priority.

After work I went to Costco, actually the most convenient place to get groceries, other than hispanic or asian markets, on my way home. I admit I am not a regular Costco shopper and I don't think I get the full value of my membership every year. Having just renewed I decided I needed to make the effort to take advantage of the value. Today I really feel the value in more than just the monetary sense!

I left work at 4:15, stopped at the bank and was done at Costco by 5:15. I had bought a double pack of this chicken and rice casserole, best buy of the day as far as I'm concerned! I threw it in the microwave and by the time it was done (16 minutes!) I had put away the rest of the shopping and made a salad. Jacob loved it and now I have time to get all my other stuff done and even post this blog. I'm off to the gym as soon as I'm done with this, which makes me really happy because this will be the 4th time in the last 6 days and I don't want to stop this pattern.

Hope you had a good start to the week!

Hope the gym was good. I was in Costco here this afternoon after work too - with the time difference between us, probably at some of the same instants you were there! But I didn't get a caserole.
