Trying a new pattern

Jacob starts a big job at UC Berkeley today. That means he will be commuting for the next few months. He needs to be there by 7 so he needs to be leaving the house by 5:30.

All I could think was that it was so not fair for me to stay asleep until 7:15 or so. So here I am! I got up with him at 5, our new coffee maker had just finished making us a yummy pot of coffee. I made some breakfast burritos and Jacob made it out the door on time. Since then I've started a load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen including sweeping (I'm gonna go swiffer as soon as this is up).

I still have another hour or so before I have to leave for work myself. I'm kinda liking this morning so far and I think I should make a habit out of it. I need to be getting up and supporting my husband. Plus hopefully if I get up with him I will be ready for bed at the same time instead of reading for a couple of hours after he is asleep.

All I kept telling myself was, "Mummy got up with Daddy and was ready to go for us kids when we got up". Now I realize there are no kids in the picture, but someday hopefully there will be and when that happens it would be amazing if I've already turned myself into a morning person. So I'll keep working at it and try to build the habit!

As you can see Zeus is not ready to be up yet, neither is Molly, she's sleeping under the bed. Both pretending that its still snuggle time.

He's so cute! Congrats for getting up early! You could go to the gym early too, if you wanted - after Jacob leaves of course!
