A little nostalgia as a reward for hard work.

Its been a busy week...

This was out bedroom last Sunday evening:

We decided to get started on a project that we knew was on our to-do list from the first day we walked in the house. We had to replace water/termite damaged sub-floor in half of our bedroom.

Once was had the carpet up we realized how totally shot our carpet pad was and also realized that this was now the perfect time to do the baseboards to match what we have put in the other rooms of the house. This idea led to painting the room. So we setup our bed in the living room and have been working away at all of those projects all week long. Yesterday we moved the furniture back into our room and today I really got everything put back in place. So here is our room now...

(Didn't paint the closet yet because Jacob has plans of just completely redoing it and we'll paint it at that time)

As I was putting things back up on the walls I totally fell in love with this (all over again):

This is a spice rack made for Mommy by Grandpa Charlie, but for me it is now a jewelery box. I love the sentimental aspect of still using this everyday and I think its just a cool and unique way of hanging/displaying my earrings.

I did also clean out our closet and dressers, making a very large pile of items to donate. I was confronted with an incredibly hard decision; what to do with this dress:

It's the dress I wore for my sister's wedding, the one and only time I have worn it. The dress hasn't fit me in a long time, and though I think it's beautiful, it's not very current with the rest of my wardrobe. Even though I only wore it that once it's revered in my heart because of the specialness of the day I wore it on, but also because it represents the last time I went on a shopping adventure with Mommy, and its an adventure I remember in its entirety. Rest assured, I did not give this treasure away, but I have tucked it into my dress bag full of my other special dresses. (I think I'll make a post dedicated to the contents of that dress bag because its one of my most prized possessions)

I hope you have a great week!

I didn't know grandpa made that rack - I always thought she bought it at The Bunny Hutch. That's neat you have something he made.

Glad you kept the dress. Might be fun to find some fun craft project with it that will turn it into something useful.

Or just keep it, and if you have daughters, they will have a vintage dress to wear some day.
